Free Shipping w/ specific carrier

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I currently have the FedEx shipping module configured in my store and it works great. I currently offer customers free shipping on order over $175. The problem I have is that I want "FedEX Ground" to be the only shipping option available when orders total over $175. I either need to have the regular prices for shipping for things like overnight and "free" show up for Ground or I need those options to be disabled all together. Any thoughts or ideas on how I can achieve this?

Prestashop v. 1.5.3.1

Thanks

Sounds like you need to set up a Cart Rule (voucher). You can select "free shipping" as the voucher, and specify a minimum order amount ($175 in your case). You can also specify for which carriers you want this voucher available for.

I'm trying to do this myself - free shipping for First Class USPS only - however the checkout page doesn't recognize the specific carrier selection (USPS in my case) and shows all options I have for shipping. Whichever a customer selects, they get free shipping. Might be a bug for me.

Can you let me know if it works successfully for you?

Set up a carrier for free shipping and or whatever you need to calculate specifically. PS allows to choose when free shipping starts on the shipping tab. So the free option will show up when you want it too. You can choose to set the order of carriers shown by price or position. Just use price, cheapest method will be on top in the cart.

If you only want a free $175 option to ship Fedex Ground, set the free shipping at $175 and it will show free when the customer hits the mark. Then another carrier for Overnight, both carriers will show, customers chooses ground or overnight, over $175 shows a free ground option.

Carriers can be set like this also:

Carrier 1: Free USPS First-Class / Weight range would be .0625 to .8125

Carrier 2: Free USPS Priority / Weight range would be .875 to whatever.

Carrier 3: Free Fedex Ground / maybe to a 10 pound limit or so...

Carrier 4: Fedex Ground / Charge for items over 10.01 pounds etc.

Carrier 4: Fedex Overnight etc...

If the item hits the right weight range and zone it shows the carriers available. If they are in a EU zone, my international option shows for that. I prefer to use shipping calculators that give real time quotes based on weight and size. Just figure out your packaging charge and then let the calculator adjust for the purchase. Flat rate shipping will burn you and customers purchasing small items won't be turned away because the flat rate is three times the actual postage. Thats why I use USPS for all small items insured via Endicia.
