While I can not see too much discussion about this, can anyone advice: 1. Is there any Prestashop site has been built for selling the eBook, music...? 2. What modules are necessary to install, download, or to purchase? 3. How big the site can handle? i.e., If I have around 30,000 ebooks, and 1.5T of data to store, and some ten thousands customers. PrestaCoder.com Posted January 15, 2013 Share Posted January 15, 2013 Albert & Joel, Prestashop can handle this! We have built many shops with this kind of inventory/products. Prestashop can handle digital products without any problems. Regarding the modules, the default one's should work OK, but based on your needs you may need to create some custom ones. My advise - If you want to have your shop running smoothly, choose a good web hosting provide, don't be cheap on this one, because it will affect your business. Joel Antero Posted January 16, 2013 Share Posted January 16, 2013 Thank you for your replay. Meanwhile I'm a little septic about the response about the eBook e-commerce on Prestashop. In my searches, I didn't find any modules specifically for this propose as I saw in Mangento for example. Things like DRM management signing the eBooks files with the name of buyer support for several types of files (Mobi, epub, kindle, kobo, etc) so the eBooks client can chose the wanted one. My company is now re-analyzing the platform to use for our on-line strategy and I’m coordinating the situation, so I’ll appreciate and thanks all the help can have. Ariadne Posted January 18, 2013 Share Posted January 18, 2013 The only problem that I have had when selling my digital products (pdf downloads of charts I create) is that if you make *ANY* amendment to the product on any of the pages, the virtual product file gets stripped and you have to re-upload it. It's actually a big pain in the rear - if you notice a spelling error and change it, you have to reupload the file! the e-file does not get signed with the name of the buyer (that's something I wanted too) the files are encrypted though you can't have multiple files on the same virtual product However the boys at PrestoChango (mod writers) have said that their virtual product manager will do the multiple files bit and that they could probably write a module for the addition of names to downloadable files.
