simpleaspen
I'm trying to put a shop on local server to test for an upgrade from 1.3 to 1.5. I copied files, imported the database, etc. The backoffice looks fine. The catalog is there and I can see the images. My problem is with the front office. It looks like there is no css, even when using the default theme. Any ideas on where the problem is here? I am mainly interested in testing the current theme for the upgrade but I can't really do that when I cannot see it.
Site
Are you using the default theme with the latest release of Prestashop? Rather than the default theme from v1.3 ?
simpleaspen
Yes this is a view with the default with v1.
Site
Have you recompiled smarty cache since? Reuploaded the default theme?
simpleaspen
I did try to reupload the default theme. I tried recompiling the smarty cache from the back office but that did not help.
Site
Do you have any custom modules installed?

Site
Does your web host give you any error_logs ?
simpleaspen
This is a trial update on my local computer. Followed the steps for manual upgrade: -download old shop files from web server -copy folders from the old shop to the new version of prestashop (not alot of custom things so copied mails, images, theme, and config/settings.inc) -imported old shop database -change info on settings.inc to point to the local database -ran update script to update the database at this point, it seems that the install worked. The back office is displaying fine and shows all the products and other information from the database. It is only the front office having problems. I did not copy the whole old shop theme folder, only the custom theme we use.
Site
Does the custom theme show anything when you enable that instead of the 1.5 default one ?
simpleaspen
well i guess the css problem is not a problem now because my current theme does not support 1.5 :/ So until I get that sorted, I'm trying to update to 1.4.9. We'll see how it works. Edited January 8, 2013 by simpleaspen (see edit history)
simpleaspen
Thanks for all the help. I updated to 1.4.9 and that worked for now. I appreciate all your suggestions. Hopefully someone else might find them useful if they have the same problem.
benjamin utterback
HI simpleaspen, did you end up using the default 1.5 theme?
simpleaspen
No, this is for a customer and they like our current theme. So until I can update it or find one similar that works for 1.5 I just updated it to 1.4.9.
benjamin utterback
Hi, thanks for the reply. Okay, thanks, you can always look for a new theme thats compatible for 1.5 and edit that. It may be easier to do that instead of updating your current theme.
barefoot
I have the exact same problem, but even the default 1.5.3 theme does not show any css Update: I tried to recompile smarty cache, but I found that my tools>smarty folder doesnt even have a cache folder or a compile folder. There are only two folders: plugins and sysplugins Edited January 15, 2013 by barefoot (see edit history)
Site
Hi, @barefoot the latest release of Prestashop recompiles when you update the settings in the admin area, if you have set it to "Force Compile" it will re-generate the template. Do you have a link to your url ?
barefoot
I am just trying on a local server for now, so I dont have a link, but I tried to Force compile but there is another problem now. The Save button in Advanced Parameters> Performance doesnt do anything. So I change to Force compile but it doesnt save.
