Hover colour

Hi guys,

 

I'm trying to develop my own little shop and I'm completely new to all of this programming and coding stuff so I don't know a lot. I used prestashop theme maker, which was relatively good at changing most settings but I'm a bit stuck with some stuff which I don't know how to change. I wanted to change the colour of the top menu so that when links are active or hovered on the background changes colour. Is there some lines of simple code I can use to just put somewhere?
