sting5
Hi everyone, I made two shops with Prestashop and I'm more than satisfied - amazing and very modern platform offering vast opportunities! So i decided to move my virtuemart shop to prestashop. The problem is, I can't find a way to migrate user information efficiently. I found a way to move user information (like address, contact info etc.) through mysql table export tool, but then issue with password shows up - user login passwords seems to be encrypted with somekind of secret keys. So after migrating user login data into prestashop, encryption and decryption keys do not match, and users can't login. Any ideas how to overcome this issue? Thanks for any ideas guys! sting5
Hi Petmed, thanks for the suggestion but I really don't want paid services. I'm not very advanced in MySQL and site migration, but I can do that myself. The only issue is with the site coding system I don't understand - they seem to use some secret keys and some sort of token coding system, wich needs to be duplicated in order to make migrated site work perfectly... Anyways I could use some expert hint on what to look for...
benjamin utterback
Hi sting5, I would probably still contact the service cart to cart for more information. http://www.shopping-cart-migration.com/ You are confused with the way PrestaShop encrypts it's passwords? It uses an encrypted md5 hashtag I beleive.
sting5
Hi Benjamin, I would if the service wouldn't be payable. Budget was low, so I couldn't throw money on something I can copy/paste - It's strange that Prestashop doesn't provide free migration tools - they should be interested in getting more clients into their platform. Anyway I've solved the problem by setting default password for every client and sending a newsletter asking to change their password in new system.
