How to get Multistore Subdomain Wildcard working

Can anyone please help,

I need to put member ID's in as subdomains and therefore need a subdomain wildcard setup.

 

At the moment everything gets directed back to the main URL. For example if you type in http://123.domain.com it will be directed to www.domain.com which is no good.

 

How can I set the app up to dynamically accept http://123.domain.com as I could in 1.4 with the themebydomain module?

 

I have tried setting the domain as *.domain.com for wildcard but the app does not accept this format.

 

Maybe this could be a feature to add but at the moment I need a solution.
