How to modify a live store

I have a request to modify a live prestashop store that might take me a couple of days. Is there a way to work "off-line" with out interfering with the live store and update the site when finished?

Somewhat this depends on what you are planning to do to the live store. I certainly wouldn't recommend working on a live store without already having made sure your changes are fine on a local working copy. You can create some major headaches by working on a live store. You may also have some irreversible consequences attempting to do that.

 

My advice is to set up a local working copy first. Make your changes there then upload them to the live store. If necessary, place the live store in maintenance mode while you are making the changes.
