Installing Paypal 3.1.0 crashes all other modules

When I try to add the Paypal module as a zip file, it will say "module successfully added" but all the other modules that usually show up underneath this message will have disappeared.

 

I tried installing a different module to see if it was an issue with all installations, but the other one worked. Just Paypal seems to be having this issue.

Confirmed on cleaned installations (v1.4.8.2 & v1.4.9.0).

Installations aren't completed properly and make the modules page unavailable.

Have to uninstall the module folder manually.

 

Also, on v1.4.8.2, it reports an error on line 85 of paypal_abstract.php.

Same issue with a clean installation of verison 1.4.9.0

After uploading the latest paypal version from the addon now my checkout page its gone and when i delete the paypal it comes right back up.

Im using 1.4.9

They uploaded a new version (v3.2.0) which "seems" to work.

Remember to uninstall completely any previous version you may have before installing this one or you may end again with a non-working modules page.

I had deleted the file from my site. I installed the new one and I am having the same issue. I guess I am going to remove prestashop and re-install and see if that works.

I uninstalled prestashop from my server and re-installed it and updated to the 3.2 paypal and it is working.

I did the samething my checkout page its gone and my backoffice module its gone too

I'm having a different issue now. My page won't display. I can go to my back office but when I try to view the actual front office I keep receiving this error.

 

Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects.

Yes, I had the same issue the first time, I should have given more details I think.

You have to uninstall completely the module, and by "uninstalling", I don't mean removing the files, but cleaning everything.

 

That means you have to :

- remove the "paypal" folder from your modules directory

- install an older version (prior to v3.1.0) of Paypal

- uninstall it through the modules page

- install the new version

 

I bet you can also clean the missing bits from the database but I didn't try as it's easier and faster to process this way.

I did this, but now my modules page has a warning that says

In order to use the module you need to install the backward compatibility
