nestawr
I've noticed that since I upgraded to 1.4.8 using template 1.4.5 my site slows down to the point where it times out when you have large quantities in your cart. I have an item that customers get a quantity discount when they order 50 or more. This was a best seller until I upgraded. The issue is that they can't even checkout because the site slows down so much that it times out. I have tried everything from adjusting performance settings to disabling modules and nothing seems to work. I believe this is a core issue with prestashop and not my hosting as I have already contacted HostGator on this issue, but also the backoffice is running fine. I think its important to note that my site runs fine when there aren't any items in the cart or very few items. Any suggestions?
SuperCharlie
Ive seen a couple posts about 1.4.9 having better speed and DB query speed.. maybe do a good backup and give it a try. Never hurts to be up to the latest version. Good luck. SC

benjamin utterback
Hello nestawr, If you have upgraded to 1.4.8 and it is loading slow then I will definitely recommend SuperCharlie's advice. 1.4.9 has been shown to have better speeds. That could help this problem, among others. It's only one version away and it never hurts to try! Thanks for the message and thank you for choosing PrestaShop! rturner
I agree with Benjamin and Supercharlie. My site had huge product categories that no amount of tweaking could really speed up. Upgrading to 1.4.9 made the difference. I think the developers did a lot of work on the database side.
benjamin utterback
hello rturner, yes, thank you for the recommendation. Our development team has been hard at work making sure that 1.4.9 is the best version ever released. We will continue to work hard to improve the software everyday.
