Auto Upgrade Error Detected During [Unzip]

Hi all my website is hosted with webfusion virtual server.

 

I have many many problems with directory owners and security.

 

I have tried to use the auto upgrade module. It starts but then errors at "Error detected during [unzip].

 

I have a feeling that it is error because it cannot unzip due to security permissions. Does anyone know where the file is downloaded to so that I can check the permissions?

 

Also - most of my files are owned by my ftp user and group "psacln". Is that correct?

 

I am trying to upgrade because my layered navigation module does not work.

 

I have spent last 3 weeks trying to contact a mod or admin to look into it for me but to no avail. If anyone could help me I would be eternally grateful.
