1.4.2 to 1.4.6.2 updrade - Modules Tab in back office acting strangely

I don't remember which version of 1.4.2, however. I didn't make a note of it.

 

I did a manual upgrade to 1.4.6.2 (it seemed that there were too many bugs involved with upgrading to 1.4.7 this early). I'm having several problems, but the most pressing is that the modules tab is acting very strangely.

 

When I click "configure" on a module, I either cannot make any changes when it opens, or it get the message that the module has been successfully uninstalled. The USPS module, specifically, shows as installed and active, yet when I click on uninstall I get the message that it is already uninstalled.

 

I cannot make any changes to any of the modules I have opened. The first time I open one, I'll see the module, but saving gives me the uninstall message when I am returned to the modules tab. Any time after the first, when I click configure I am given the uninstall message.
