Where do I edit my Footer items?

How on earth would anyone know that Footer items were in Modules->FO->CMS Block? I realize that I'm a newbie and don't know PS very well but this isn't 'friendly' at all. If this is how PS is designed then I'm probably not going to like using it because once I get my store setup I might come back months later and want to change something and if things are not in a logical location then the management of the store becomes a nightmare. ZenCart is one example of a nightmare to maintain and why I left it. I'm now wondering if I jumped from the frying pan into the fire with PS?

There are things in my footer (default theme) that don't show up in this CMS Block, so obviously those must be controlled elsewhere: Specials, New Products, Top Sellers to name three. I'll hunt around for them but if I can't find them, then I can't be wasting time looking for things to change that take only seconds.

Thanks for the help...

Now you have had your little rant perhaps you can calm down a bit and perhaps when you get to know your way around the software you'll have a different opinion. The layout of the admin area is actually quite intuitive.

The footer links contain 3 hard coded links, the remainder are links to CMS pages. You can create as many CMS pages as you wish and include any or all of them by simply checking a box in the CMS block. Given the CMS content of the footer I personally thing that the CMS module is a perfectly logical location for them.

If you don't wish to have the 3 hard coded links or would like to change them you can do so by editing the /modules/blockcms/blockcms.tpl file. You could also create an override file for this as part of your themes folder so that these changes are not lost during any future upgrade.

Regarding your final comment if you don't have the patience to learn your way around and consider it wasting your time then I don't think any shopping cart solution is going to suit you.

Hello. Allow me to jump in.

@Dave, i have tried to edit those links:

But, nothing happens. I have tried to comment them out, but they still appear. I have tried to delete them but they still appear!

How could i take these little suckers out?

Thanks

If you make changes to a .tpl file you need to 'force compile' for the changes to be reflected in your FO.

Preferences>Performance and set force compile to yes and save. Change this back immediately though otherwise your site will run very slowly.

I have to say I am struggling here too and I am not entirely new to coding etc. I am using the Nova theme but don't believe my issues are with the theme itself...although I'm probably wrong. I am trying to make changes to various things like removing the hard coded links in the footer; my updated store location won't display; I want to change the titles in my blocks...these are the little vexes I'm dealing with currently...that and my boss questioning my ability because he has no idea about working with a new program etc...

Thanks!
