[URGENT] Problem with States, Zones and Counties.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

First, sorry about my english, I am spanish.

My problem is this:

I have a client that have a first Carrier , (Carrier A ) "CA" . This CA have a shippement price diferent on every cities of the spanish states (Provinces) "Madrid", "Toledo" and "Guadalajara". There is more than 150 counties.

The solucion would be create Zones and States of every 150 cities of this three provinces. But.....

Then appear Carrier B, "CB", this carrier will work on the other provinces of spain and have a shippement price diferent on every province.

This problem would be easy to solve if I could associate Zones to Counties too. But this is not posible... ( am I right?? )

So I don`t know how to solve this problem...

any help? any module or plugin ?

Thank you.

sorry again about my english.

Hey, your written English is better than many Native English speakers I see, so well done.

The shipping should be able handle what you are trying to achieve. I see no reason why not but it does require you to invest some time.

Because each city has a different shipping price then these will have to be your zones. When you create your Carriers your two carriers you can assign them to each of the zones (cities) they will deliver to.

Set up your weight or price ranges.

When you get to set up your Fees by Carrier you will be able to set a shipping price for each city.

Why not just set up a few cities first and test it before investing all your time entering information.

Good luck.

Thank you for your answer.

That is half of the problem.

Cities from 3 spanish states are diferent prices. So you said I have to set this cities as zones, then I have to set this cities as States.

But then I have to set the rest of spanish States as States and zones too... so when a user add an address if select the Spain country in the <select> of states will appear Cities + States :S

Any idea?

Thank you.

As the shipping is based on zones where shipping fees can be weight/price per zone then one way or another you would need your configuration to reflect this.

Another approach would be to study the shippers cost structure to see how many occurrences of a set price to a given weight there are.

For example, in Thailand, which has 74 states, there were 10 different values for a 10kg package wherever it was delivered to in the country. This was the same for all the other weight ranges. So for this I was able to set up zone 1 to zone 10.

I then set up each of the provinces as states and assign each of those to a zone.

There are other creative ways to get around these things. Have a look HERE at post #16 to give you some ideas and again on post #24.

After reading these it may provide you with some other ideas or prompt you with some other questions.

If you are still stuck I would need some additional information from you in order to better understand what you are trying to achieve, but I am happy to offer any advice I can.

Thank you for your answer again.

I had benn reading the #14 and #24 post but doesn't help me ( or I am confused) ,

Here are the details:

Carriers:

- Carrier A : shippement based in Towns from 3 spanish provinces: Madrid, Todedo, Guadalajara , ( more than 200 towns in total with totally diferent shippeent prices and not based in price neither weight, there are fixed prices).

- Carrier B : Shippemnt based in Provinces and weight. (Aplies to The others 49 Spanish Provinces)

Problem:

- I have to create a zone for every Town and for Every Province.

- I have to create a State for every Town and for Every Province because Prestashop zones only can by assigned to States and Countries.

- If I do this the customer when add an address in the "SELECT" of State will appear Towns and Provinces MIXED.

( Prestashop States have provinces and towns to detect the shippement Zone). That is the principal problem.

Any other idea?

Thank you for your help.

Yes, it seems your particular set up is going to problematic.

The only thing I could suggest now is for your client to rationalise the prices from the shipper and create his own price structure.

How much difference is there on the prices within one province? If your client could slightly increase to cost of the cheaper ones and reduce the more expensive ones you may be able to come up with an acceptable single price for the province.

Either that, change to a different shipper or possibly have a module custom made to fit your needs.

Sorry I couldn't be any more helpful.
