Help Needed: Adapting my prestashop to a specific product

Recommended Posts

Dear Prestashop Team and Developers

I have been reading a lot about Prestashop and it's uniqueness. Trust me, I really count Prestashop as one among the leading Open Source Ecommerce Script available online.

I have just thought of an idea that would be based on e-commerce functionality and have downloaded latest prestashop. But there's a small problem that I want to specifically tailor my website for the specific niche. Suppose if I want to sell hand-made handcrafts and would like to customize the script accordingly, then how can I customize the script display functionality such as:

On a homepage, the name of a commodity is given a generic name "Product" however I want to change it to Handicrafts. Additionally if a script display top selling product, I want to rename it to "Top Handiscrafts Sold" or "Recently sold Handicrafts"

Similarly I want to customize the email communication with the user and script, as well as registration or signup process, to match my market requirements.

In short I want my script to be customized specifically for my niche.

Can anyone please suggest me how to accomplish it or refer me a previously discussed discussion on the same topic?

Awaiting the response of whole community as I have committed to launch the portal within less than 1 month.

Please help and guide.

Thank you very much for the help extended.

prestashop comes complete with a comprehensive Translations feature were you can change all of these things.

If you have prestashop installed have a look at

Tools>Translations>Front Office Translations

Tools>Translations>Back Office translations

Tools>Translations>Field name translations

Tools>Translations>Module translations

Tools>Translations>PDF Translations

Tools>Translations>Email Template translations

These are available with each installed language.

In the /mails folder there are all the .html and .txt files which you can easily edit.

Very few things need to be reworded in .tpl files, however the option still exists.
