Creating Mail template with product links.

I've created an order status and attached a costumer email to this status.

 

In this email i want to create a list of the ordered products including links (a bit like order_conf.html but with links).

 

While variabels like {first_name} en {shop_name} etc work in the email, {products}, {product} or {product_link} don't work.

 

While I can see {shop_name} is generated in Mail.php, {first_name} and {last_name} are not, but the still work.

 

So my question is, where/how can I generate {product} and {product_link} variabels to use in a mail template.
