Cropped Thumbnails

Hy all!

I'm new on this forum and using prestashop recently to develop an e-commerce site.

Great software but now I'm interesting in a custom feature that I can't find.

I've set the product thumbnail size to 150x150px and the top category image size to 800x200px.

 

Unfortunately prestashop doesn't crop the thumbnails so if I upload an image in 800x200 format, the resulting thumbnail for the category page is a white filled image with a really thin stripe centered containing my image.

I already have developed an indipendent image resize class that do exactly that, so I can set a custom ratio and my class resize and crop the original image at the desired ratio and gravity but I prefer to not touch the source of prestashop for future automatic update.

Is there a way to do what I want without hardcode my needs?

Ok it was not so difficult. I've implemented my own resize class that crop correctly the images.

If anyone is interested I'll post a howto and my class obviously.
