Disable everything there. Then go to your Modules tab and click 'Positions' just below. All your modules will show in whichever position they are currently in. Your stores module is presumably in the right hand column position, just delete it from the hook and it shouldn't show anymore. Hope I've got it right! Let me know if it works!
