Anybody use NGINX as reverse proxy?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

As the title suggests, has anybody tried using NGINX as a reverse proxy to Apache2 to serve static content?

I know 1.4.x has the media server option... but we just can't get that feature figured out for life of us. I'm not sure if these two options serve the same purpose or not, but it seems like it does. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It seems like implementing NGINX is quite easy, and would accomplish the same task (as media servers) in serving static content. Now, I have heard that if most of the content on the site is dynamic (which I'm guessing is the category PS falls under), then the site could become slower having an adverse effect.

Just want to see if anybody has tried this setup, and if it has been beneficial or not. I want to know if it would be worth implementing...?

Thanks!!
