I use the 2009 solution here --> http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/25955-how-to-show-product-count-in-category-section/ Firstly, i modify the module files in prestasop 1.3, ie productscategories module,and follow the 2009 step. Then i replace this module folder with the new prestashop 1.4 productscategories module. It works with me. But please backup the productscategories module for prestashop1.4, just in case...
