How to ... Add to Cart = Hold Stock

Recommended Posts

I need to have the ability that when customers add something to their cart, it removes the item from available stock. I tend to do "listing" nights where I list a lot of items at once. For example PJ's. My customers tend to order multiple pairs, but if the adding to the cart feature doesn't remove the stock, people are going to end up missing out on what they want.

Is there a change that I can make, or something I can do so that when someone adds something to their cart, it subtracts the available stock?

If the above can't work that way... is there any way (or any mod) that would allow customers to 'reserve' an item? I'd really love the cart to hold it for them as some of my customers like to create an order over a week of different items being listed and I really don't want to have to worry about 5 orders when 1 would be so much easier.

If anyone could please help with this?

Is there anyone that has any idea how to do this? I really need my customers to be able to hold stock so they can create one big order. At the moment I'm having to merge up to 10 single orders into one which is taking up heaps of my time.

Is there a mod, code change, something I can do so that customers can create one big order themselves??

Hi TryTwo,

as i understand you want the available stock quantity to be lowered if a customer is adding items to the cart, right?

Example:
Product A has a stock quantity of 10 pieces
A Customer is adding now 4 items to the cart
So you want the stock quantity of the product lowered to available 6 pieces?

Regards,
Dirk

Yes, exactly. That's what I am after.

Then, if I clear someone's cart (because they abandoned it for example), the stock goes back up for other people to order.

This should be possible.
I need to know exactly what version of PrestaShop do you use.
Then i can have a look how to do this.

Regards,
Dirk

I think what you want can be done by setting "Enable stock management"  to "Yes" on the Preferences > Products page.

According to the docs:

Enable stock management. This option gives you access to basic stock management options and features: you can set the current quantity of product, and have PrestaShop lower it for each order, and "re-stock" for each canceled or returned order. By default you should leave this feature enabled, as disabling it affects the entire inventory management of your shop. Only if you do not have any physical inventory should you disable it – for instance, if you only have virtual products.
