MAYCON HENRIQUE
I'm receiving a permission error related to the "modules" folder in PrestaShop that I don't know how to resolve. Error message: Unable to write to the following folders. Provide write access to the user running PHP with the appropriate permissions and ownership: modules Evidence: https://prnt.sc/ssjX0QgJXx_1

4presta
Hi. I'll give you a small sample script that will fix permissions for the folder and subfolders in "modules" and all files. I also have a script here that will fix permissions globally in all folders and subfolders of Prestashop. You need to have max_execution_time set to a higher value. Just upload the files to FTP and run them in a browser, for example:https://my-shop.cd/repair-permissions-modules.php After the repair is complete, you need to delete the files from FTP!!! repair-permissions-modules.zip Edited December 28, 2025 by 4presta (see edit history)
MAYCON HENRIQUE
Please follow the forum language. The problem is that the owner may be different from the user who uploaded the file to FTP. We don't see what is important to us. In FileZilla, the permissions (number 0644 for example) are not visible and there is no other owner field for the uploaded script and the like. I updated the script.

4presta
Hi, The problem is with the permissions as I wrote. You will need to hire someone to fix the permissions in cPanel. It's hard to explain. Currently the folder permissions are set to 0775. This article is good for how to solve this in cPanel https://truehost.com/how-to-fix-permission-errors-in-cpanel/
MAYCON HENRIQUE
What permissions should the modules folder have?
4presta
Folders 755, files
MAYCON HENRIQUE
This doesn't seem right. I checked with FileZilla and saw that the modules folder already has permission 775. I checked both the directory user and the root user; they all have 777, but I'm still getting the error. It seems to be related to something with the PHP user.
