Why did you add a new (useless) step with Paypal payment standard in PS1.4?

Recommended Posts

Before PS1.4 the Paypal payment standard was pretty nicely done.
You had to chose a payment method in the list of the order-payment page and then you were redirected straight to the Paypal website.

But now you have to choose a payment method and then if you choose Paypal you are directed to a confirmation page where you have to confirm you really want to pay with Paypal.

In a business point of you this is totally useless and it might even reduce the conversion rate!
Is there any way to remove this last step?

Thanks!

Ok so I see some differences.

When using your new method:
- there is no redirection page with the message "you are being redirected...".
- once on the Paypal page only a total is displayed

With modification I have done:
- there is a redirection page with message as for previous versions
- once on the Paypal page the detail of the payment is displayed (name product, unit price, quantity, total products, shipping)

Some feedback would be appreciated ^^

You are spending a lot of time on something that you don't need to do. There isn't an extra step if you use the following settings.

In modules select 'configure' for the Paypal module >>

In 'Solutions' check "Payments by credit cards: CB , Visa, Mastercard and PayPal account". That is all. Make sure nothing else is selected.

Select 'Settings' tab > 'Payment type' > Active. Then enter your Paypal account email address.

You are done!

This will eliminate the extra step.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your answer it works !
But I still have a question.
In the module it is specified (in red):
Important: To use any PayPal solution, you need to set up API parameters in the « Settings » Tab

So I just wonder what the point of set up the API parameters.
