Of course, it is possible and it is not an overly complicated process.
However, remember to perform a full backup before taking any action.

1. In table <PREFIX>_configuration, change PS_SHOP_DOMAIN and PS_SHOP_DOMAIN_SSL into your new domain

2. In table <PREFIX>_shop_url, change domain and domain_ssl

First empty caches, than Backup as mentioned, database dump, search the database for the domain.
htaccess you also have to adjust.

So yes its not only possible, its quite easy.
