Create a new payment module

I'm going to develop a new payment module. I know this topic is discussed in this forum a lot of time and I already read a good number of those.  But I need some more guidelines.

I've already created the configuration page for that module. Now I am in search of an example module that implements api access, and cron-jobs (for periodical access token) with modern approach.

Can you please suggest me one? That would be highly appreciated.
