Matrice v1.4 Editorial.tpl Issue

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I know this issue has been raised before but I can't see a resolution anywhere on the forum. I'm trying to edit the text that appears over the home page slider on the right hand side of each of the 4 images. In fact I would like to remove the text and black shading altogether if I work out how to.

I've edited the editorial.tpl file to include my text but it does not change when I view the site. I've investigated making changes via the back office by going to Tools, Translations, Module Translations but still no use. When I look in Module Translations under Matrice, there is only one field for adding text. This field does actually show my own text but it does not show up on the shop front.

Has anyone else had this problem and managed to fix it? I'm a bit stuck now. It seems like the database is holding on to the original data and not updating itself with the changed file contents. I'm no expert but that's the only thing I can think of.

I'm running the latest version of Prestashop v1.4.1.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks,

Adrian.

If you want to change or edit the original the text on the slideshow, you don't have to edit the editorial.tpl file. i had the same issue, i solved it this way.
Look for at the administration panel, the tools tab. then click on the translations menu.
there you'll have to choose the module translation section, then press the flag button of the language you want to edit.
when the page is loaded there are two buttons
the first one belongs to default text messages availble to edit/translate on the
the second one to the text messages contained on the matrice (black and white) themes.
click on the second one, if you don't want to scroll down lots of editable text, before you get to the one you are interested in (editorial).
when you finish editing the text, save the changes.
make sure of delete the history and cookies saved by your browser, if you don't you won't be able to see the changes made on the frontpage of your store.
Hope this helps.

I used matrices quite awhile ago so am not sure if there is any new development to this theme.

To edit the link i edit the /themes/matrice/modules/editorial/editorial.tpl file.

<li style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; display: none; z-index: 2; opacity: 0;">
  <a href="http://yourdomain.com/#"> <img src="{$base_dir}themes/matrice/modules/editorial/images/2.jpg" alt="image" /> </a>
  <span class="slide_caption">
   {l s='"bla bla bla.' mod='editorial'}<br />
	  </span>
 </li>

Change "http://yourdomain.com/#" to the link you are referring to ( in this case image 2.jpg in your slider will be directed to this particular link.)

hope it helps
