Home categories not alphabetical anymore?

This problem happened after the upgrade to 1.4.0.17.

I am using prestashop defualt theme and the menu on the left is not displaying subcategories how I would like.
By defualt i believe it displays in alphabetical order which is fine by me but now (after upgrade) when I add new category or move and existing one it automatically adds to the bottom. If i go BO and either drag them higher or click the little up arrow it shows right position in the BO but when you view the store they stay at the bottom and never change positions.,

Any idea why this is please? Or what files control the left menu and might try re upload them.

From which version was you upgrading from? I had the same issue following all beta releases. It's happened I had to create again all categories because the already created ones hadn't got correct data in the database. I don't remember the specific version requesting to make that Try with a new category and some subcategories. If the sorting works there, you should work to create again your existing categories.

I upgraded from 1.3.5.0. Never tried any of te beta versions. Just waited for final versions.

I have tried creating brand new categories but always defualts to bottom of memu. As said when I try to move the category up levels by drag and drop or by clicking little up arrow just stays at the bottom.

No idea what to do and makes no sense why this is hapening.

but if you create two new categories, if you try to sort them, the sorting works? I mean only between these two categories shown on the bottom.

Right I see.

yes i created 2 new categories and managed to change them around now. What I did save having to move the products around is just rename the category to (category 1) save it then name it back to original and this has enabled me to put them back in to order i desire.
