Declination product + error message

When I use declinations for my products, it seems to work properly on the back office, but on the front office, when I go from the default declination 'racines nues' to ' pot1L' I get this error message  " An error occurred while processing your request" . The stock is not adapted properly (should be 10 for the 1L pots).

What can I do about this? My website is running on 1.7.6
