order confirmation layout corrupted

HI there, I am using Prestashop on two sites, one in English, one in German. The English one works perfectly. On the German one I keep getting a corrupted layout in the order confirmation email. It looks fine on the server in html format but when the email arrives, the blocks are all over the place (see screen shot). I found a thread from 5 years ago that reported that problem and the suggestion was to replace the html file on the server which I have done. I uploaded the English one as that one is working fine. Then cleared the cache in admin. However, while the English file is on the server, what is getting sent out is still the translated one that arrives distorted. So, I can't test the English one and see if that arrives with the layout intact. Both shops are on the same server btw.

Does anyone have experience with this issue and a solution? Thank you so much!!
