  1. Just enter the cartblock configuration, disable ajax cart, and then enable it back. See if there is a blockcart-ajax.php file within your blockcart module, disable ajax cart and enable again. You can also check out shopping cart daignostics service, it will monitor your users, and inform you if there;s an error at checkout or add-to-cart. I guess it's better than just wait till a customer complains.
  2. Apart from SSL, you may also use SSH for your login pages and FTPS instead of FTP to prevent your login credentials from being intercepted by hackers. There are now attacks known as brute force, which can break into your site by trying millions of logins and passwords. This post contains more info on the topic of site security. I am convinced that it is better to use every opportunity to secure the site. I wouldn't like to find mine a mess one day, and, most likely, neither would you.
  3. Log-in to the admin panel and click on Preferences > SEO & URLs, Then, generate a .htaccess file, for that you have to click on Tools > Generators. And on the tab check the Friendly URLs option and click on Generate .htaccess. That’s it:)
  4. Well, it possibly can be the penguin. In this case, you should better make sure you don't have any more low quality links, for which you might have been penalized. Another instance, however, is that your competitors are working hard on getting your visitors. if you haven't done any changes, it doesn't mean everything's still the same. You can check your positions for a specific keyword, but don't use the browser you're always using. Try another browser, log out of your google account and disable caching. that should show you the true picture concerning your rank.
  5. Hi! it's possible that your checkout page has some elements like css/javascript files or images which are not loaded from https. This is the reason why SSL considers them not fully secure. You should look in the source code to be sure.
  6. You have pretty much answered your own question. All the things you've mentioned are actually helpful to attract visitors to your website. But in order for your site to be easily findable, you need to do some things which are not quite so obvious as writing in twitter or blogs. I suggest a good read - Google SEO Secrets. That's a good book for a newbie. I think you can find it online. For me, it was like opening my eyes on SEO, which was totally unfamiliar. Good luck!
  7. Are you sure you've configured the payment modules correctly? Check the settings, maybe you'll locate the issue.
  8. 404 error indicates that the server understands the request but cannot find the requested page. For links leading to categories or subcategories, it is possible to be broken. but if the home page won't load, chance are that the DNS entries or server records are corrupt. You should check DNS too. http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10things/10-tips-for-troubleshooting-dns-problems/1964 - the article with more info. Good luck!
  9. As SEO experts put it, you should better create a short simple page than a long page with different products. First, it will help to rank the page for a specific keyword and secondly, the users will find it easier to use, too. As to Amazon, they can neglect some of the SEO rules as they are widely known. As to a small business, you should use every smallest opportunity to rank higher in search results.
  10. Hi! I suggest that you don't guess, but test your website performance and see, what's slowing it down. There are a lot of tools to do it. Personally, I prefer Shopping Cart Diagnostics, it's fast and not expensive. plus it can optimise certain elements to make the site load faster. Here's more info about optimising website performance.
  11. hi! I just tried opening your site. It seems a bit slow, I mean the response time, page load time is ok. And I've noticed that the drop menu at the top is transparent and overlaps the elements on the page, and it's very difficult to make anything out. You should see to that. I also tried checking your store using Shopping Cart Diagnostics tool. Don't worry, I just entered your store URL to run a quick check. It detected 2 errors -robots.txt and sitemap.xml are missing. Maybe you didn't have time for this, but it is important for SEO - helps to index your site by Google and prevent certain elements from crawling (so that to avoid being penalised for duplicated content. You can run a deeper check for free, but providing FTP details, which are known to you only. So, good luck with your store!
  12. hello! this IS specific. Have you tried to check your site? Like, everything? i cannot think of any other solution, so maybe this can help you at least find out the reason for your problem...The service Shopping Cart Diagnostics is good, it is specialising on e-stores troubleshooting, you can find more info here.
  13. Probably, this is the problem with redirect - you should check your settings in the hosting account.
  14. Hi! I cannot be sure, but if you don't have other options, try a web service to test your e-mail settings. I'm using Shopping Cart Diagnostics, they're fast and offer a great number of different checks. I think, it could help to discover what went wrong. This article will give you an insight in what it is about.
  15. HI! you havent told anything about your hosting provider, it is really important. As to turning anything "on or off", actually. you should make sure you're using ONLY necessary modules and extensions, plus your images should be kept small, and if you're using many fancy animations or widgets, consider reducing their quantity, as they are rather resource consuming. I can suggest you to read this info on speeding up Presta, it'll be more specific.
