Static footer and header no effect when updated

Recommended Posts

I am very new to Prestashop, but have decided to help out a friend to set up a new eCommerce site.  I installed the Prestashop using Go Daddy's auto install method.  I also installed a theme that my friend purchased.  I can get to the dash board and have figured out how to do basic things with his inventory.  This all seems straight forward.  What I can't figure out is how to change all the shop information in the theme.  The theme that was purchased is from Theme Forest and is called Pisces,  If you would like to see the theme, here is a link to the page.

I found a place to upload a logo, and that worked.  I also found places where it says you can update static footer and header, but they seem to have no effect when updated, and they do not have all the information that you would want to update.  I found a text file that has this information in it (\modules\posstaticblocks\sql\staticblock.xml) but even when I change the text in that file, it does not change the information on the web page.

Please tell me what I am missing or point me to a specific tutorial about this problem.  I eventually would like to look at all the tutorials and get better, but I need to get this knocked out right away.

Thanks to all who are willing to help.

Am I in the wrong place for this?  I really need some help, and every one is responding to other posts, but not mine.  This is the second attempt at posting for help.  I am about ready to uninstall prestashop and look for another solution.

Hi

Welcome to the forum, hope you will have  nice store for a friend and good sales.

Note that even if you have linked demo of theme, as it is paid theme we all do not have access to back office

and settings, so maybe some screenshot could help. For example place you tried to edit header/footer.

So first try to configure module posstaticblocks, but from xml I see it have some static content. Whole header and footer

consists of few different modules that each have its own configuration.

And try this,  after you save changed settings in that module, go to Advanced Preferences > Performance and clear cache by clicking button in top left of screen.

Theme should have come with some documentation, so check there too, and if there is maybe some bug, you could also ask developer of theme to help.

P.S. And try to be bit more patient.

I am sorry for my impatience.  I thank you for taking the time to reply to this.  I had posted this about a week ago and received no response, so this was a repost and I thought I was getting the same result.

There is documentation, but it doesn't seem to follow very well for what I am seeing on the screen, so it is very frustrating.  I have attempted to reach out for support with the company that developed the template and with the company we bought it from, and have not had any luck with either.  The company that sold it says to go to the developer and the developer does not respond.

I found the areas where you can edit the static blocks, and have changed the values but that does not seem to update the web site.  These are associated with the "configurator."  The configurator has buttons to configure settings, and each one launches a different module.  For instance, one launches the "Contact information block" module.  After changing I can return and see the settings are saved, but they are not reflected in the site itself.

Yeah that configurator is probably based on default theme configurator that have  lot of options in one place.

But some of those are just short-cut to installed modules.

And if  any module do not reflact changes from back office then it is possible that is still show cached content.

So did you try to clear cache ?

Check this also , http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS16/Performance+Parameters

while developing it is good to set options to Force compile and Cache to No.

I have cleared the path and changed the setting.  The static information is still not customized.

I think I will abandon this template and try to get another.  Are you familiar with different template developers?  Are there ones that I might have better luck with?
