It worked, the only thing that I couldn't do (and godaddy didn't help either) was the php accelerator but the rest was OK, I already have the new version on the subfolder working. THANK YOU VERY MUCH @tdr170 @selectshop.at for your help. I'm gonna follow your advice and let the client feel the new version front & back so he can decide if the upgrade is worth it.

@selectshop.at I ceated the folder and uploaded the files and it worked!! (also contacted godaddy to check the server, not sure if they did something though) it loaded the installation panel but now I got this errors screen.

Yes, that's what I've been doing. The only different thing is that is not the directory (/domain/store/install) but a subdomain (store.domain.com/install) I have godaddy.

I did created the new account on Cpanel, but it didn't work either, the install doesn't work, don't know why... I tried the 1-click upgrade, the install from 0 on the domain, creating a new cpanel account, and on a different domain creating a subdomain and install the 1.7 version, and nothing works. Do you know of a theme that has a similar layout to 1.7? Since that is mostly what the client wants.

Intenté creando una nueva cuenta en Cpanel y un subdominio en un dominio diferente y nada funcionó. Realmente no sé qué pasa con esta versión de prestashop que es más un problema que una solución.

Thanks for your answer @selectshop.at but is more that the client wants the new version, mostly for the layout, so I have to upgrade to 1.7, but yeah just this is being a headache

Probé y me sale que empieza a descomprimir pero se queda en el 0%, dice que necesito instalar primero al extensión de php. Intentaré crear una nueva versión de la cuenta en el servidor haber si con eso soluciono. Gracias por la ayuda.

Hi, I have a PS online store with 1.6 and I wanto to upgrade to 1.7. Searching how to do it I read that with the module 1-click upgrade I could do it, so I backed up my site and DB and look for the version on the module, but 1-click upgrade doesn't show PS 1.7, only 1.6 so I went online and found out that it was because the module was for 1.6 and I had to install the 1.7 version of the module, with I did but after it was installed the modules functions of the store stopped working, so I had to go back to the 1.6 version of the module. I downloaded and uploaded the prestashop 1.7 zip file and on expert mode I made 1-click upgrade take files but at the end of installation it says there's one file missing and that I should go back to the previous version (if I don't click on roll back, it automatically does it anyway). I also tried installing the files directly on the hosting but if is the prestashop zip file when I access the URL it downloads the files and if I decompress it it shows a 500 error on the site. This is the site (I have the zip file now). I'd really appreciate if someone can help me find a way to upgrade my store.

Hola, tengo una tienda en prestashop 1.6.17 que quiero actualizar a 1.7. Buscando encontré que con 1-click upgrade podía por lo que hice el backup de datos BD y procedí a actualizar, pero PS me dice que tengo la última versión disponible por lo que puse modo experto y aún así no me saca la 1.7. En la web encontré que era problema del módulo de 1-clic upgrade que era el de 1.6 y no 1.7 por lo que descargué el de 1.7 y lo subí a la tienda (quitando el anterior) y la tienda me quedó en blanco, tuve que restaurar el módulo, y decidí intentar descargando el archivo zip de prestashop para instalarlo en la opción directorio local y archivo local pero no funciona, con archivo local me dice que está descomprimiendo pero al final me saca error, dice que hay un archivo faltante (pero es el zip que descargo de prestashop directamente). Al final decidí instalar de 0 en hosting, por lo que borré los archivos de 1.6 y subí el zip de 1.7 que descargué de Prestashop.com, en la web encontré que subía el zip y al momento de ejecutarlo se descomprime solo y permite instalar. Intenté pero me sale para descargar el archivo zip y si intento descomprimir los archivo y subirlos me sale error 500 y no se ejecuta el instalador. Está es la página (actualmente tengo el zip subido). Agradecería si alguien me puede ayudar porque lo que encuentro no ha servido y no sé cómo hacer para tener la nueva versión de prestashop en mi web.

Me respondo por si a alguien más le sirve: Reversé la actualización del PHP en el servidor y la tienda volvió a servir, luego volví a actualizar la versión de PHP del servidor y la tienda no se dañó. No sé por qué esa segunda vez no se vio afectada la tienda pero tal vez necesitaba algún tipo de reajuste interno o algo así. Al final la versión 1.6.0.6 sí soporta el PHP 5.6

Me salía Error SQL Link to database cannot be established: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] y no dejaba entrar ni al adminisrtador de la página. Tengo Godaddy como proveedor de servidor y en el cpanel de la cuenta no sale la opción "Select PHP version" que en un video de youtube vi que servía para solucionar el problema. Pero los de godaddy me cobran 80 USD por revisar la cuenta y ver si pueden poner esa opción para los Cpanel entonces quedé igual y me tocó volver a la versión 5.3 de PHP.
