State tax in the US

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I have a problem defining the local tax in the US. My shop is in Washington state and I defined a tax as being applicable in WA state only (9.8%). I assign the tax to the product.

I have three problems...

1. the tax is never applied - am I missing something? When I define the tax instead of WA state for the whole US it is applied. The customer address is WA state.
2. in the US it is customary that all prices are displayed without tax and the tax is only displayed at the checkout (for example if the item costs $10 it should be always displayed as $10 - only at the checkout the tax of $0.98 is added)
3. for every location where the place does not comply with the address (works for me only when I define the tax as US) the price is still saying Tax included although there is no tax.

Sorry for probably basic questions... but after a day of testing I am lost.

Thank you!

I just removed the Tax Incl a little easier - using Translations.

Go to Tools- Translations

Then select Front Office, click on the flag (US in my case).

Find all occurrences of Tax Incl. or Tax Exclude using CTRL-F.

In the right column, put a period (or for Total (tax included): replace with Total:)

I used a period, but a space may work... not sure.

Anyways, don't forget to update at the bottom of the page.

There ya go. Good luck!
