[MODULE] Notepad for Back Office

Recommended Posts

Do you sometimes need a Post-It to keep an information useful to your shop? Keep this info online!

This module for PS 1.3 will display on your Back Office homepage a notepad area, allowing you edit the content of a permanent text file. Note it will not allow you to edit/save multiple files...

It has been developed to answer a personnel requirement :

- I always keep a "a.txt" file on my Desktop to keep some important temporary information

- I do the same with a draft mail on my gmail account
Now with my module, I'm able to keep my notes in and only inside my prestashop back office.

I can provide upon request an URL with a fresh installation of prestashop, only used for test - just ask, you will get it by private message.

Hi. In fact there is no "created/displayed" mode... You always have the editor displayed... If you start modify its content, the Save button activates and gets surrounded by stars.

I send you the URL of my test shop...

But note I'm open to requests... I could in a first time have a display only mode, where you would have to click on a edit button to change the content... In a second time, I could provide as functionality to have several files - so several notes. The fact is that I would not use them (or myself), but is seems me easy to do. I just won't do it if no-one is interested in that ;)

Great thanks for posting the demo lanoix, it makes sense now. At first I thought the editing window would be somewhere else (under the Modules tab), and on the main BO page it would be a read only panel. But what you have seems workable for now.

Is it possible to move the window up above the "Statistics" panel? And is it possible to change the width so it spans the entire width of the page? Are these available in the settings or would they require a code change?

Here's a thread I started earlier, there are some good suggestions from user Angora. As you can see there's a lot of demand for this type of thing!

http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/82973/third_party_modules/back_office_message_board_module

I think in the future I could see something like what Angora suggests, combined with a "forum" style panel. So when people log in to the BO, the first thing they see (on top of the "Statistics" panel), is something like this:

[message of the day!!] [posted date] [posted by] [dismiss]
[message of the day!!] [posted date] [posted by] [dismiss]
[message of the day!!] [posted date] [posted by] [dismiss]
[message of the day!!] [posted date] [posted by] [dismiss]

EDIT: actually I think what we're suggesting seems to be changing the entire purpose of your module! if it's a "message board" style system, then it's no longer a generic notepad that you originally built. Maybe just ignore my feedback:)

I thought (when developing it) that it's a waste of time, as me (or eventual employees) need to use that to read or save notes fast, I didn't want a "display" mode. But it's easy to do, I will check for that asap.

Yes, simply go in the admin panel to "Modules > Positions", then look after "Administration panel homepage". There you can swap the modules position.

For now it would require a template file change... I will try to add that too.

Yes, it's not anymore the same goal... But I plan to work on a task management system, where each employee could see what they have to do... No a message board, but could be useful too. But later...

The fact is I'm about to open my shop, in 2 weeks, and it has the priority for this month ;-)
