Product Attributes: Add to Cart button disappears

Hi all,

I have the following problem:

I assigned attributes to all my products but if I choose a non existing combination of attributes, the "add to cart" button disappears.
I read in the forum that usually the text "this combination is not available for this product." should appear but this is not the case.

Does anybody know where I can find the code to enable this text?

Is in the product page, in the product list or in the home page in featured products.
