Disabling certain product images instead of deleting them

Can I disable product pictures instead of deleting them?

The case: I have taken some better pictures of my products, so I am taking the old product images down. However, I realized some blog which help me promote my products linking images directly from my website. Taking down the current pictures means that the blogger need to update their posting too. This is quite troublesome.

Is there any way instead of deleting the images, I can just hide them from my product page (but the images are still available for linking)
