Restoring database backup caused broken umlauts

I had to restore database backup after image uploading failed.

After database backup smartblog, homeslider and productcomments always cut the text whenever there is umlauts (ä, ö, å) in database text.

The texts are stored properly in database.

For example a text like this shows properly in database:

"Esimerkki katkeavista tekstinpätkistä"

But in any of the three modules the text would look like this:

"Esimerkki katkeavista tekstinp"

So it breaks with umlauts.

Database is UTF-8 and the modules also seem to be. Please help how to correct this.

 

Strangely adding new text to for example homeslider with umlauts works as it should. It's only a problem with old blog posts etc. that break with umlauts.

Restoring manually via phpmyadmin and choosing UTF-8 fixed the issue. There must have been some problems with automatic backup restoring.
