V1.7.0.2: Price and quantity shown as 0. Add to cart button not working

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have carried out a 'one-click install' of version 1.7.0.2 onto my 20i.com hosting account at http://inks-n-stuff.co.uk.

I am sure that the problem I am having is one that has been addressed before, but I cannot find a topic related to it on the forums anywhere. That may be due to my lack of experience, so I apologise in advance, but would really appreciate some help with this.

The problem is as follows:

I am using the 'Classic' default template. I have cleaned the database of the demo data using the Cleaner module and set up some simple categories. I have imported some products into one of these categories so I can experiment with it and learn to use the backoffice (there is no design to the store at present beyond the addition of the main menu so as to give access to the items in the category from the front office).

The products are simple ink cartridges. The only addition I have made is to add a feature for colour with preset values. There are no other features or attributes, etc added. In the category view, they display correctly with the price and image showing as you would expect.

When I look at the 'quick view' of the 441 Black Epson Ink Cartridge product (the only one that has the feature added and a summary and description), I can see the price and the text for the summary and it will let me add it to the basket. The only problem here is that it will allow the item counter to go above the number of items in stock and if the add to cart button is clicked at that point, it just adds zero items to the cart.

When I look at the full product view, The price is shown as £0.00 and the add to cart button is greyed-out, with the words 'Product available with different options' next to it. The item counter will still go above the actual stock level but nothing can be added to the cart regardless of the quantity.

The product description is displayed correctly and in the Product Details tab the colour feature is shown correctly, but the stock quantity is shown as zero.

This is the same for the other products, but they don't have a colour or summary/description information added.

I have re-installed the software any number of times with the same result. I know it is not the latest version, but I did not want to install that yet in case there are any issues with it and 20i.com as 1.7.0.2 is the one they install directly.

I have used earlier versions of Prestashop in the past with no problems, but I would not call myself an experienced user in any terms, and I want to learn as I go with this version so I can try different things until I am happy with my understanding of it before committing myself to going live with something.

I will be very grateful for any help, suggestions or links that anyone can provide me.

Regards.

Well I seem to have worked this one out by myself. The problem isn't anything to do with the theme. I tried several free themes and each of them exhibited the same problems.

The problem seens to be with the way that the demo data is cleaned using the Cleaner module. I don't know enough to start wandering around the database looking for things that don't get cleaned up, optimised or fixed, but its obvious that if you install the demo data and then clean it out, something gets left behind that convinces Prestashop that there are options available for products when there aren't.

I used an article at http://premiumpresta.com/blog/install-prestashop-without-sample-data/ to avoid installing any of the demo data at all, and tried it again in the default template and no problems other than the fact that the item counter can still go over the maximum stock figure. Whilst my php and sql skills may be pretty minimal, I think I am a pretty skilled user of Google, so with a bit of luck I will be able to figure this out for myself as well :) .

Regards.
