Cannot uninstall module

hi

I'm trying to Uninstall (delete from module list) a module called '[EW] Url Rewriting + v1.2' but a error message shows :

The following module(s) were not installed successfully:

* urlrewritingplus

I've tried manually removing the offending module from the module folder but then a different error message appears in admin:

' cannot find one module'

Any ideas anyone how to do this, thanks ?
