Localization problem because of PayPal v3.11.4

Hello,

My store is : www.engraftprosocks.com

Running Prestashop 1.6.1.17

I started to have problems a few couple of weeks ago.

Customer's could pay with paypal but no notifications were coming through the shopping cart.  spent the weekend trying to figure out why.  I was told to delete the Paypal module and reinstall it .... what a mistake.  The 3.11.4 module no longer works for Canada for some strange reason.

I had to change my country to France to reinstall the PayPal module as it would not configure it for Canada. (country not allowed).

Through out all of this, I was also unfortunately misguided by my hosting company and deleted UK from my countries.

Here are my requests:

1. How can I get that United Kingdom localization pack file back ?

2. How can I get a version of Paypal that will actually work for Canada ?

Please help !

Donald

Hi, for PayPal US/Canada see this module on addon's

https://addons.prestashop.com/en/payment-card-wallet/8277-.html

if you only deleted UK country you can easily just add it back  localization-->countries-->add country

here is screen shot of UK country

Hello El Patron,

Thank you very very much.

I was able to reinstall the US/Can PayPal module as well as the UK country.

However, I am back to where I started a few days ago and it's worse...

1.  Customers from Canada get an invalid shipping address message after clicking the PayPal button.

2. I now have modules listed in UK Sterling Pounds.

I have chosen Canada in the Localization section as my default country.  Reimported the Canada loc pack.  All seems fine but it is not...

What am I doing wrong ?

Good morning,

That was very kind of you to try that, thank you.

Just before going to bed, I changed the PayPal to Express check out only.  That seems to have helped.

Canadian customers are not paying taxes however and that is a problem.

The modules are still listed in UK currency in my back office.

El Patron, do you recommend installing a new store using 1.7.2 ?  I have a feeling that 1.6 is no longer supported and that the modules are going out of date...

Thank you for any advice you may have.

Taxes are is a complex subject.  Please review PS 1.6 DOC on Taxes here.

I do not understand term modules,  are you referring to products?  check that you have correct default currency defined in localization-->localization.  There you can check that your default shop currency is what you expect.

1.6 is a great release and is well supported and the issues you are having is a learning experience in configuration of your shop.  I really like 1.7 but for now I suggest you work on catalog build,  configure shipping/taxes etc.   Then consider how to improve front office with high quality theme.  One should get 3-4 year shelf life on any one release and mostly because the front office gets dated.  it's all about the front office. :)

Thank you for any advice you may have.
