backup via backroom 'database backup' then import?

hi, just wondering can anyone help.

Made a backup of a database via the backroom database backup function.
saved as SQL file.

tried to update store, didnt work - will post the issues on separate message, how and ever....
re-installed original version of p/shop.

can I update the products that were in the original shop from the backup SQL I made?

I have since installed some new products. will this cause an issue?

can my backup products, be just added to the product list?
