Code For Displaying Product Manufacturer?

I'm just trying to display a products manufacturer in the featured products module.

I know that to display the product name the following code is used;

{$product.name|truncate:27:'...'|escape:'htmlall':'UTF-8'}

Or to display it's category;

{$product.category|truncate:27:'...'|escape:'htmlall':'UTF-8'}

So I tried the following code to display the manufacturer;

{$product.manufacturer|truncate:27:'...'|escape:'htmlall':'UTF-8'}

But it didn't work!

So what exactly do I need to change it to?
