Product Input: Switching Off 'autosave'....?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I'm new at this -

I use Prestashop 1.6.1.1.

And P.S.: please excuse me beforehand if I fail to explain things correctly; English is not my moher tongue.

Always when my partner & I are inputting product data ("catalog" > "Products", and then click on any product that needs adding and/or modifying...), the system automatically starts 'autosaving'; even before we can hit any of the two "Save" buttons ourselves. We also noticed that it doesn't save the actual modification we just made; for that we DO need to click the "Save"-button... which we can not do while it is 'autosaving'. Sounds familiar? Or at least: understandable? :D

Just to illustrate what part we're talking about, her's a screen shot of what we're seeing when we're waiting for a clickable "Save"-button: ...

Maybe you're thinking: "Big Deal... just wait a couple of seconds!"... but the thing is: it takes 'ages' (a minimum of 50 seconds per 'autosave'!). And bear in mind that we have 1600 unique products; they all have 10 different specifications (product n°, colour, size, ...); and our shop is in 4 different languages. So at worst, we'd be waiting 3,200,000 seconds in vain (1600 x 10 x 4 x 50'); which means losing 53.333 minutes or 889 hours of our productivity time...

Now I understand completely the purpose ànd good use of an 'autosave' function; so need for a debate 'pro' & con' on thàt matter. And suree: the lenghh of our waits probably has something to do with our server and/or hardware capacities as well... But rigt now, concerning the good use of Prestashop, my question would be if (& how) it is possible to switch that function of temporarily - while we're manually inputing data. (I've looked in my backoffice under "Administration", "Advanced parameters", "Preferences"... nothing 'on topic' to find there, at least not at first glance.

So obviously, any inpout is greatly appreciated.

Kind GRZ from Belgium!

Filip (& Petra).

The answer to your question - NO.

This is not actually saving, but loading tabs like prices, images and so on. And while all tabs are not loaded it does not allows you to save.

The question is why it takes so long to load? Is your server that slow or did you mess up something?

There are a lot similar topic in this forum, so if you try to search maybe you will find solution that helps you.
