Design importing imidges and using them in your columns

I have this :design

I want to have this: fixedDesign

everything is fine until i add another 2 columns to 4 standart columns
code in global.css

background:url("../img/block_header_large.gif") repeat scroll left top transparent;
color:white;
height:17px;

ideas?
