500 internal server error in back office modules /modules

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, Hoping someone can help me with this as I'm really struggling here,

When in my admin panel modules > Modules i get the following error message

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Is this a problem within prestashop or on my server and how do i correct this?

Im running Prestashop_1.6.0.14 with a custom template purchased from presta store.

Many Thanks Dawn

Have you tried switching on debug mode to see if there is any more information?

Has it suddenly stopped working? If yes, have you made any recent changes? undo them

I dont know how to switch on debug mode im a total beginner. I've been looking for some type of error log on my ipage control panel but cant seem to find one.

I recently purchased a theme from prestashop addons that added a lot of extra modules. There was an error before i installed the template but it was intermittent and only happened on and off. Now i have the permanent 500 error.

I have heard others have problems with ipage, not great with prestashop I think, though probably not the issue here

Was the theme 1.6 compliant? Have you asked the theme developer for support?

Debug mode:

  1. Connect to your server using a FTP client
  2. Go into ROOT/config folder and open the defines.inc.php file
  3. Change the value of _PS_MODE_DEV_ from False to True and Save the file.
  4. Once you’re done with all changes, switch _PS_MODE_DEV back to False so that it’s turned off in production mode
  5.
