[solved] FREE BEER!

Recommended Posts

To whoever can help me fix my problem

When customer is logged in, site performance is fine

When not logged in it runs like a dead dog, 33+ seconds to add an item to cart, long page loads etc etc

Therefore as I am desperate to get this working, anyone whio can help will receive free beer (or wine) from me

Site is www.babybots.co.uk

Ps Ver 1.6.0.14

Non PS modules disabled already

Thanks

Steve

It is worse than that because add to cart does not actually add the product to the cart

Is this new? In other words did it used to be working well and stopped, or has this always been a problem?

Any upgrades recently?

tried clearing the caches?

Hi Ron,

It adds to cart for me

Im not sure if it is new or not tbh, what I do know is that ever since I started using prestashop 1.6 my sales have hit the floor

I have cleared caches, reinstalled, updated, rolled back tried everything and yet nothing seems to improve it

I also made a fresh installation on another domain and copied the database over, still same problem, im beginning to thinks its somethingto do with the database itself but everything I have done (checked integrity/repaired via cpanel) has returned a result of ok!

Have you tried switching on Debug - any error messages?

  1. Connect to your server using a FTP client
  2. Go into ROOT/config folder and open the defines.inc.php file
  3. Change the value of _PS_MODE_DEV_ from False to True and Save the file.
  4. Once you’re done with all changes, switch _PS_MODE_DEV back to False so that it’s turned off in production mode.

Yep tried that and got nothing from it

Had a techie at work have a quick look for me and he thinks it is something to do with the database and calls to it or something, as if there is a massive query that is slowing something down

Hmm

checked with the site hosts to see if they can spot an issue?

What hosts are you using and what are the plan conditions> Shared hosting? number of myscql calls limited?

Yep been there too

am with a company called Vidahost, hosting is shared and no limit on mysql calls as far as I am aware, I spoke with them last week to rectify internal server errors that were linked to this as well, they increased something to 512m.

They suggested that it was a module issue causing it, but as I have done a fresh install im not sure that is likely to be the issue

Thanks for banding ideas about with me though, maybe I/we will manage to get somewhere with it!!

The image suggests it is a time to first byte issue, but does not explain why

But at least it gives you another way to search. "TTFB prestashop"

suggests memcahce can be an issue (if that is on, switch it off)

https://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/253785-solved-impossibly-slow-loading-pages-time-to-first-byte-7-seconds/

Not sure where else to go now except if you have re-instlaled prestashop it is really unlikely to be an issue with the software otherwise everyone would have the problem and much more likely to be an issue with your hosting server

Can you run a phpinfo test and see what your settings really are in php?

I think I have done it.

I was having a pokey around in the sql tables and noticed the ps_address table was about 80mb in size and contained 148k entries, now as flush as I would like to think my customers are I dont think they all have large property portfolios that they get nappies delivered to ;o)

Obviously at some point when I have transferred data from an old database I have screwed up!!

Yep, that is much better. Well done

And even better news for you is that you solved it yourself so you can treat yourself to a beer - enjoy!

I am going for a Theakston's Old Peculiar
