Customer Log In/Out Issue... Cookies/Cache problem maybe?

Recommended Posts

This is driving me crazy... When I create a customer account on my store and browse the store while logged in, if I log out, I'm redirected to my home page, which is fine, and everything seems okay because the link on the homepage says Sign In, as if I actually signed out... Which I did, so I thought...

However, if I view the same page I logged out from, it automatically signs me back in.

Here's the big problem... When you click Sign In after signing out, it automatically logs you in again without asking for your log in details like every other site in the world does, because that's what's supposed to happen.

Here's the even bigger problem... Now you go to the Contact Us page "thinking" you're signed in when you're really not, and on the Contact Us page, it says you're signed out and none of the auto-fill info, like choosing your reference number is available.

So... you get confused for a second, click Sign In again, and the process starts all over again.

Do you think the solution would be to put a virus in my database to teach it a lesson and to stop pissing me off?

Just kidding, but I really do need a solution as I can't have my customers confused all the time and my really expensive jewelry store I created over the last 4 months is not going to do well.

Thanks for your help!

And if my customer has to clear their cookies in their browser every time in order for this to work correctly... An average Internet browser shopping on my site doesn't even know what a cookie is, besides the chocolate chip kind... haha ha HAHA HAHA.... . ... hahah HAHAHA :)  ha? no? okay....
