1.6 (new feature request) Virtual Product Combinations

Any chance more work can be done on virtual/downloadable products such as;

 

- Adding back product combinations

- Refunds without returns and disabling download links once a refund has been done.

- Ability to add a free sample file (e.g. 30 sec audio etc)

Couldn't the sample file be posted in the product description? Or using a product tab module?

 

Yes it could. But the point is that PS needs more virtual product functionality as this is a growing e-commerce sector, and it needs to be seamlessly integrated.

 

 

That seems like needles bloat to the core for only a few percentages of shops that would use it.

 

Well what is needed and is needless is subjective so I won't go into that. But the question would be how many people are walking away from PS because it lacks decent virtual product download functionality and will the number of stores that will want to sell virtual products increase or decrease in the future, I would guess that the number will increase.

 

Currently the virtual product functionality in PS is no different from a simple Buy It Now PayPal button that redirects to a link at the end of the transaction. In 6 years the virtual product features of PS have not improved and in fact the removal of combinations has meant that it has gone backwards.

@jimbola, there are several (paid) modules on the market which enhance virtual product configuration.  Also you can open a forge report here, and ask for feature update.

Hi Jimbola, I split your interesting topic from news and releases into it's own topic.  I sell virtual products.  Having packs would be sweeeet....and of course combinations support as you suggested.  There are 3rd party modules, but have no experience with them.  Anyone with feedback on existing modules and or hacks concerning extending native virtual files would be much appreciated.

I have used a virtual product combination module from the Addons store and although it does the job and would use it for small stores, because it requires manual code changes to files I am a bit weary to use it for larger stores where the risk of something going wrong and and causing damage it more significant, especially if you need to upgrade the store. The notion that if something goes wrong none of the products are available is a bit scary.

I thought this was this one of the robust modules on the market by Presto-Changeo, have you looked at it?
