[PRODUCT LIST] Trouble configuring

Hi, i have some trouble configuring my product list.

1. How do I move my product list to the upper left corner? There used to be some 'about' and 'recently watched' blocks which I didnt need, so i removed them, and i want to move the product list to their place [GREEN ON THE PICTURE]

 

2. How do I delete the "sort by" and other marked RED stuff?

Im using the default theme.

maybe is not the best solution but I use to put these on category.css

 

#category #left_column {

 

display:none;

}

 

to hide the left column 

 

 

#category .sortPagiBar {

 

display:none;

}

 

to hide the sort data
