Information required on multisite IP addresses, parked domains and addon domains

Recommended Posts

Hi - I have a client who wants to use Prestashop v1.6.011 multistore on a linux platform using cPanel.

He wants each of his domain names to have a unique IP address.

The Prestashop recommendation is that you use a parked domain, Can a parked domain have a different IP address to the main domain IP address?

Alternatively, I could use an addon domain. Can an addon domain have a different IP address to the main domain IP address? If so, are there any pitfalls to using an addon domain to a parked domain?

uhm...this is more a hosting question, note: if the domain name is a ccTLD (google it), then the IP is not important...I've seen some pretty cool whm's control panels that let you select IP by country...

tip: when you set up the 2nd--nth name server names, then you set their IP there...but the main domain must also have these defined in it's dns...again talk to hosting or search outside of ps.

Spoke to my platform and hosting company, Managed VPD at GoDaddy, who confirmed that a parked domain name can have a separate IP address, but it needs to be set-up via SSH as theWHM cPanel does not have a menu function to perform this act.

yes, that's awesome!  this is good idea for gTLD and rTLD's.  happy prestashopping
