There are 2 errors - update or add new address in checkout

Recommended Posts

hi - firstly, I have spent hours going through the forum and online to find a solution - I have tried every solution but the issue remains!

in checkout, you have 'your delivery address' and 'your billing address'.

if you want to change this, or add a new address - the fields do not have country or postcode (I am in Australia).

so you cant update or save a new address as you get the error -

id_country is required

postcode is required

but they are not there to choose.

so my customers cannot choose to add a new address or update theirs at all. even if they go 'my account'.

I am using the latest ps version, however I am using a theme from template monster.  please help.

Hi,

I had the same problem and it seems I was more lucky in finding the solution:

- go to Localization/Countries and select the country you want to edit (I assume it's Australia)

- On the field "Required fields for the address (click for more details)" click on "Country" and then click on "name" (which has a + sign). This will add the country name on the field named "Address format".

- On the field "Required fields for the address (click for more details)" click on "Address" and then click on "postcode" (which has a + sign). This will add the postcode on the field named "Address format".

That's it. Now the fields "country" and "postcode" should show on the "add a new address" page.

This worked for me, I hope it will work for you as well.

Regards.

thanks Coloranti - however this was something I tried over and over but never worked. sadly, prestashop wouldn't respond to my ticket request for assistance either, and never responded to this thread - as you can see, no one bothered to reply except yourself - which I am grateful for.

I tried every type of fix after reading for hours and hours - in the end I made so many changes to the code that I just uninstalled and started all over again - amazingly I didn't just delete prestashop and move on to another platform - although in hindsight I should have.

starting from afresh fixed the issue - I could have just save myself massive amounts of time and just done this from the start.

my recommendation if you have such issues is to start again - back everything up like databases and export any products/categories uploaded (by using the sql manager in advanced parameters) - I didn't do any of this as I didn't realise the sql manager was for the exporting of this information until much later.

prestashop is horribly awkward and complex - menus don't have ordinary meanings, so you have to spend countless hours trolling threads to perform the simplest of tasks - I expect it has something to do with this not being a native English application. anyhow - good luck everyone
